Updated: Nov 10, 2022

From a university teacher to a CFO of a listed company and a large state-owned enterprise, he finally decided to devote himself to the rehabilitation of children with disabilities. Why did he say, "It's so hard to do charity work in China"? What did he learn from his time studying at the University of Montpellier's DHM (Doctorate in Healthcare Management)? Today, we are going to share with you a wonderful interview with Zhen Su, and listen to his innermost voice on the rehabilitation of disabled children.

"This period of study at the University of Montpellier DHM has been very rewarding, in terms of medical and health management, rehabilitation room management, including business models, ethics, all have great gains. In the future I want to communicate more with teachers in European countries, to graft the advanced management experience in Europe and the United States to China, In the future also hope that through my study, I can in the field of rehabilitation of children with disabilities business I also hope that through my study. I can provide the country with a better business model paradigm in the field of rehabilitation for children with disabilities, and call on more enterprises and people to care for this group."

Q1 Hello, first of all, say hello to our readers, a brief self-introduction ~

Zhen SU: Hello everyone, my name is Su Zhen. I am from YiBaikang, which is the largest rehabilitation platform for disabled children in China. I am a doctor of medical and health management at Montpellier University in France.

Q2 We have learned that you have previously worked as a university teacher, and also as a CFO of a listed company and a large state-owned enterprise. What influenced or changed you to give up your original job and decided to start your own business?

Zhen SU: I graduated from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and stayed in school as a teacher, teaching accounting and financial management, and then went to a listed company to do management work. Why choose to do this work? In fact, my other line of work has been doing volunteer work in orphanages for more than 20 years, and I saw that these children were very poor, so at the end of 2012, I resigned from my executive position in a listed company and started to engage in the rehabilitation management of children with disabilities. Later, I found that there was a big vacancy in this area. There was no corporate rehabilitation for children with disabilities, and no one was doing it. Then I thought, "I'll do it, so I did it from 2015 until now.

Q3 We know that Yibaikang is a rehabilitation platform focusing on children with intellectual disabilities, and you have also mentioned that you have been engaged in public welfare activities for children with intellectual disabilities, what have you gained from helping children with intellectual disabilities and can you share it with our readers?

Zhen SU: I feel that I have gained a lot and my life is more fulfilling than before. When I was working in the company, I had a good life and had time to play sports and golf. I don't have time to meet with my former golf buddies and friends in the capital world. Now, I may not have the same material life as before, but I have a very rich spiritual life, which has changed my consciousness of my life very much. Through intelligent rehabilitation, we have transformed the traditional labor field of rehabilitation into the modern technology field of rehabilitation, and the intelligent service platform we made can benefit more children with disabilities.

What I have learned over the years is that it is too difficult to do public service in China, and there are two reasons for this.

One is that in the process of rehabilitating children with disabilities, the acceptance of children with disabilities by our rehabilitators and the society needs to be improved. There are many people who believe in Buddhism, and there is a saying in Buddhism that "good is rewarded with good and evil is rewarded with evil", so many people think that children with disabilities have not done anything good in their last life, which is why they are like this in this life. In fact, this is not true. Our birth rate is the same as the product, there is a certain rate of defects, children with disabilities are angels with broken wings, the pain they suffer and their parents suffer, we healthy people can not imagine, so on the one hand, we should know how grateful, to understand how happy we are now to have a healthy life on the other hand, they have done a great contribution to society, we should care for them. We should care for them, but many people do not realize this.

The second point is that we in China are still in the traditional rehabilitation stage. Many people face disabled children every day when they are doing rehabilitation, and it is hard to keep going without a big heart. We have a long way to go in the rehabilitation of children with disabilities, and I call on more companies and people to care for this group.

Q4 We've been talking about your career, but let's talk about your studies next. You are currently studying for a Doctorate in Healthcare Management (DHM) at the University of Montpellier, what made you choose DHM in the first place and have you learnt anything new from your current studies?

Zhen SU: I studied business in my original undergraduate and graduate studies, but I am engaged in the industry of medical and health management, for five or six years, I think I need to recharge in this area, now China in this piece of medical and health management is almost blank, but Europe and the United States have hundreds of years of experience in this area, so I always want to learn from Europe and the United States. I had the opportunity to learn about the first admission of PhD in medical and health management in China from the University of Montpellier in France, so I immediately enrolled in the course. I also hope that through my study, I can provide a better business model for the country in the field of rehabilitation for children with disabilities.

Q5 Were there any professors and students who impressed you during your studies?

Zhen SU: The teachers at the school are very good and dedicated. I thought that the teachers of domestic courses would be relatively weak in this field, but during the study process, I found that our teachers, both domestic and foreign, are very professional, I also found that our French teachers were very hardworking, they flew over from abroad for each class, and I admired their dedication. Most of the students are from medical institutions, their fields are different from mine, but they are able to communicate with each other in terms of management, and during this time my company and the students' companies have established cooperation in terms of technology and management.

Q6 Finally, can you give your innermost voice about your commitment to the rehabilitation of children with disabilities?

Zhen SU: Yibaikang is currently the world's largest intelligent platform for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities, and the only one in the world to do intelligent sensory SAS system, our project has opened up a new model for the rehabilitation of children with disabilities around the world, Yibaikang, so that the world has no difficulty in rehabilitation, thank you all.

Message from Alumni.

I think our alumni association is to some extent greater than many famous schools in China, because most of our alumni are graduates of these famous schools and originally are members of the alumni association of these famous schools, so the resources we bring are better; secondly, our alumni are birds of a feather,, and those come to study are all business executives and bosses. This resource is very rich, so how to make good use of this resource, GDA is a very good platform, we can use GDA to finance, cooperate and establish friendly relations. Come here to learn, not only to gain more knowledge, but also through this platform to meet more of our own development needs.
